After working through our long 'u' vocabulary lessons, we studied about different money around the world. Dakotah thinks it's funny that other countries have colorful money and money with holes in the coins. It was interesting to learn that some countries have important buildings, others have political figures and some even have composers printed on their currency!
Next, Dakotah learned about volcanos! He's been so excited to start this unit study. He learned five new vocabulary words:
- Core
- Mantle
- Crust
- Magma
- Metamorphic Rock
Then he learned about the three different kind of rocks: metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary. He really liked this part and spent extra time in his lapbook.
Last, he drew the different parts of the earth...the crust, mantle, outer layer and core. His excitement about learning something he is so passionate about is intoxicating!
Our hands-on experiment involved boiling an egg and then cutting it in half to see the crust, mantle and core of the 'earth'! He loved this! Then, he ate it. He didn't like that part at all. :)
We finished by snuggling together and reading another chapter in our Charlotte's Web book. I'm hoping to have a math curriculum put together by next week. We'll start Language Arts back up again as well.
I love homeschool! :)
Off to have a great weekend!
